Of course, my geeky little heart loved getting a Tolkien reference in here, but this song is about the ancient principle of the spiral over the circular path. The ego keeps one going in an endless cycle of defeat, repeating the same destructive patterns over and over again, while the higher self and one's intuition calls us to a spiral path of continuous evolution, development and transcendence. It is about the principle of your inner life determines your outer life, that interconnectivity of all things, and a tree must have strong roots in order to grow healthily. And, yeah, I totally dig conveying that while getting a solid Tolkien reference in. ;-)

This song is the pop-py 'feel good' song of the album. Well, it had to happen sometime.
